What is matt lamination?

Matt lamination is a protective plastic film that gives a card a smooth, non-reflective surface finish. You apply it over the printed surface to shield the ink from wear, moisture, and fingerprints. Unlike gloss lamination, which reflects light sharply, the matt variant diffuses light to create a softer, more subdued appearance. This finish is often paired with spot UV or foil stamping to create visual contrast between the dull background and highlighted design elements. The added layer also increases the card’s rigidity, making it feel more durable and professional in hand.
