Press check
A press check is the final quality-control step performed while the printing press is running. During this stage, the client or their representative inspects a physical sample to confirm that ink density, colour balance, and registration align with the approved proof. This verification ensures the mass production matches the intended design specifications.
If discrepancies are found, the press operator can adjust ink keys, dampening, or paper feed immediately. Once the client signs off on the press sheet, the press proceeds to the full quantity. This step is critical for short-run items like business cards, where stopping the press for major corrections later is inefficient. It bridges the gap between digital proofs and the final physical product.
