What is die cutting?
Die cutting is a finishing process that uses a shaped steel blade to cut your paper into custom, non-rectangular shapes. The die is a custom-machined tool that matches your design’s outline exactly. When you press the sheet against the die under high pressure, the blade slices through the material to create the final form. This technique allows you to produce cards with rounded corners, circles, or intricate logo outlines that standard guillotine trimming cannot achieve. Because the cut edges are clean and precise, die cutting is ideal for premium business cards where unique geometry enhances brand recognition and tactile appeal.
